Join author Wyl Menmuir at Fistral Beach Hotel on Saturday 16 November, 3pm where Wyl will lead a writing workshop where you will learn about how being immersed in surroundings can affect a piece of writing, as well as tips for developing a creative writing practice.Wyl Menmuir is a multi-award winning author based in Cornwall. His 2016 debut novel, The Many was longlisted for the Booker Award and was an Observer Best Fiction book of the year. Budding writers will be given writing prompts to help their personal projects and practice so they can put to use what they learn from Wyl during their stay at Fistral Beach Hotel. Guests can continue their creative writing experiments in the peace of their room, out on the South West Coast Path or from the comfort of Fistral Beach Hotel’s Bay Bar.
The next day join author Cathy Retzenbrink at Clemo Books, a short walk from the hotel into Newquay town for a creative writing workshop. Cathy is a writer whose books include The Last Act of Love, Everyone is Still Alive, How To Write It All Down and How To Feel Better. Her new novel Ordinary Time was released in July 2024 to much acclaim.
A break designed to allow time to switch off and reconnect through creative writing. Stay in a coastal room, savour locally-sourced cuisine one evening in 2 AA Rosette Dune restaurant, and soak up the tranquil surroundings that are sure to spark your imagination. Whether you’re an aspiring writer or simply love great stories, this escape offers the perfect blend of inspiration and relaxation by the sea.
