There are few things that pair better than a perfectly made cocktail and an Atlantic backdrop. With World Cocktail Day landing on 13th May, we’re raising a glass at the adults-only Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa with a month of seaside sipping in Bay Bar.
World Cocktail Day is celebrated on 13th May because it marks the date the first published definition of a “cocktail” appeared in print back in 1806. It was a simple mix of a spirit, sugar, water and bitters that sparked everything that followed.

Staying with us on 16th May? Join us in the Bay Bar from 4pm to 6pm for a free cocktail class for hotel guests. We’ll have two stations set up so you can choose and learn how to make (and of course taste) two cocktails of your choice, with plenty of tips from the team along the way.

Cocktail of the Month: May’s Cola Bottle Martini
A new month brings a playful twist, and May’s Cocktail of the Month is a nostalgic treat with a sophisticated edge. Introducing our Cola Bottle Martini. Sweet, citrusy and subtly spiced, with a finish that feels made for that first sip by the sea.
Featuring Connie Glaze Lemon Sherbet Vodka, paired with Jägermeister and a dash of Angostura Bitters for depth and complexity, it’s a nod to the sweet-shop favourite. Reimagined, chilled, and served with a refined finish.

Try a cocktail masterclass
If you fancy taking your mixology a little further, book a Bay Bar cocktail masterclass (£90 per couple). You’ll be welcomed with an in-house favourite, then guided through a short introduction to the history of the cocktail before creating your own chosen serve with your dedicated mixologist on hand for questions. You’ll also watch one of our signatures being made (and learn what makes it a Fistral favourite), before settling in with two mini cocktails to enjoy alongside those iconic sea views.
